What are the qualifications of Tendercares nurses?
Tendercare hires only state-licensed Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). Our skilled nursing staff is expertly trained in pediatric home care to assist children with a variety of special and high-risk medical needs. Tendercare nurses benefit from ongoing in-service training to ensure high-quality patient care and the proper management of the specialized equipment required by infants and children with complex medical conditions. In addition to a thorough interview and hiring process, all Tendercare nurses and employees must agree to a criminal background check, which is performed upon employment.
Will I know the nurses who come to care for my child?
Your admissions nurse and case manager will hand-select a group of nurses to provide the majority of your child’s in-home care. During the first few weeks (on a rotating basis), these pediatric home care nurses will become familiar with your child’s individual healthcare requirements and your home environment. One of our highest priorities is to ensure your child has the proper care when it’s needed. To fulfill this commitment, it may be necessary on occasion to make personnel and scheduling changes to accommodate the needs of our patients and to ensure appropriate coverage in the event one of our nurses is ill or needs to be absent from work.
How is payment handled?
We understand that caring for a child with special medical needs can be stressful, and the last thing you need to worry about is financial arrangements and paperwork. Our billing specialists are able to answer questions about insurance, payment options, and financial resources. Tendercare accepts Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, CHOICE, Waiver and individual private pay. For more information on billing and payment, contact your RN case manager.
What if I have a question when a nurse is not at our home?
A Tendercare nurse and a member of our management team are on call 24/7 to answer medical questions or to address any concerns. You are welcome to call day or night to speak with one of our staff members about your child’s care.
