Travel Supply List
For patients with a trach or ventilator
- Organized bag with a shoulder strap
- Battery-operated suction machine and tubing
- Suction catheters
- Resuscitation bag (ambu)
- Vials of normal saline for lavage
- Tissues
- Water in a screw-top bottle for rinsing tubing
- Back-up trach and emergency trach – (one size smaller) and lubricant
- 5cc syringe to inflate/deflate the trach cuff (if applicable)
- Gloves
- Hand sanitizer
- List of emergency telephone numbers
- List of current medications
- Any medications that my need to be taken on outing
- Any feedings and supplies that may need to be taken on outing
- Full oxygen tank (if needed)
- Humidification source and back-up (Thermovent)
- Cell phone (if available)
- Power source and adapter for the car
- If on a ventilator, be sure the internal and external batteries are fully charged.
For patients with a gastrostomy tube/button
- Spare G-tube or G-button for emergency re-insertion; lubricant
- Foley catheter to place in stoma if no spare is available
- 10cc syringe for the balloon (if applicable)
- Formula that is ordered
- Feeding supplies that may be needed for outing
- Medications; syringes for administering
- Hand sanitizer
- Gloves
- Hand towel for drips
- water for flushing tube
- Feeding pump, if on continuous feeds (charged)
